Curly Cuts
As it is with so many women- if you are born with straight hair you wish for curly, and visa versa. But there seems to have been dominance in straight hairstyles over the last few years, with straighteners and flatirons ruling the hair styling roost. But this is no more! Hair is moving in the direction of el natural- everybody knows it and everybody is doing it. So this week we are featuring two haircuts that are perfect for those with curling edges and bouncing tresses.
There is of course, the AFRO. This ever-surviving classic has given us glory and spunk since the early retro days. But in order to keep up with the modernization of times there has been a bit of a deviation on the original look, now we see a fro that is more of a teardrop shape; rounded at the top and tightening inwards around the ears. It is a daring look but if pulled off can create somewhat of a halo effect in framing the face, it is best suited for those with a square or round face (longer faces tend to be over exaggerated with such a fierce amount of hair). Just be sure to maintain the volume and moistness of the fro by applying and leaving in a Leave-In Conditioner, from the Paul Mitchell range.
For those who are born with curls that are tighter the way forward is to work with your hair’s LENGTH. Long layers will create a look that softens and moves your hair into waves, be sure that when you are cutting your layers that you start cutting from the chin or collarbone (no higher than that) as this will give your curls weight and allow them to hang downwards. In order to add more volume and wave-like effects you can add a curling cream to your tresses just before starting your day. To do this just work a curl cream into damp, towel-dried hair, leave in and watch your hair bounce and flow throughout your day.
Next week we’ll look at some more looks perfect for the curl bearing wearers!
